The capital experienced its first snowfall of the season.
According to Environment Canada, 11.7 cm of snow fell near the airport on Sunday, exceeding the previous maximum for November 9th, set in 1897 (10.2 cm).
The snow began falling around 11 a.m. and continued into the evening, causing traffic congestion.
Police recorded more than 120 accidents in eastern Ontario, 19 of which occurred on Highway 416 and Highway 417 in the Ottawa area. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries.
City crews deployed all snow removal equipment but warned that clearing may take longer as this is the first deployment of the season.
Transportation, including school buses, OC Transpo, and O-Train, is operating, but delays are possible.
