Ontario extends agreement for affordable childcare program
The province of Ontario has extended its agreement with the federal government of Canada regarding the affordable childcare program. This means that the average cost of daycare will remain at $19 per day for another year.
Previously, the plan was to reduce the fee to $10 per day, but experts now fear that reaching this goal may take longer than expected.
Ontario’s Education Minister, Paul Calandra, said in a letter to parents that the extension of the program will ensure stability and predictability for families, and that the new agreement will remain in effect until March 31, 2026.
