Chestnut Run

On May 31, the charity Chestnut Run will take place in Ottawa — one of Ukraine’s largest annual charitable initiatives.

This year’s event will be held under the slogan “Running for Little Hearts.”

Since 1993, the project has united participants in support of children born with congenital heart defects. Over the years, the initiative has raised more than $805,000 and brought together over 200,000 participants.

The funds are traditionally directed to the Center for Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in Kyiv.

Organizers note that approximately 5,000 children are born with heart defects in Ukraine each year, and the project has been supporting the specialized cardiac center for more than 20 years.
