Canada Crushes Qatar at World Cup 2026: Six Goals, David Hat Trick and Two Red Cards
Canada’s national soccer team earned a historic victory at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, defeating Qatar 6–0. The Group B second-round match took place on June 18 at BC Place in Vancouver and became Canada’s first-ever win at a men’s World Cup.
Jonathan David was the star of the match, scoring a hat trick. Cyle Larin and Nathan-Dylan Saliba each added one goal, while another ball ended up in Qatar’s net after an own goal by Mohammed Al-Mannai.
For Qatar, the match turned into a disaster not only because of the scoreline. Homam Ahmed received a straight red card in the 33rd minute. In the second half, Asssim Madibo was also sent off in the 53rd minute after a rough foul on Canadian midfielder Ismaël Koné. Koné had to be substituted, and Saliba came on in his place.
Just minutes later, Saliba scored and dedicated the goal to his injured teammate, raising Koné’s jersey above his head. This emotional moment became one of the symbols of the evening for the Canadian team and its fans.
After two rounds, Canada leads Group B with four points. Switzerland also has four points, followed by Bosnia and Herzegovina and Qatar. On June 24, Canada will face Switzerland, while Qatar will play Bosnia and Herzegovina.
